Frequency of Maintenance of Nature Trails and Typical Downtime

Speakers

Transcript

41 Ms Valerie Lee asked the Minister for National Development (a) how frequently does NParks carry out maintenance of its nature trails; (b) for what reasons and for how long are such trails typically closed; and (c) whether there have been any delays in trail-related maintenance projects over the past five years.

Mr Chee Hong Tat: As part of the National Parks Board's (NParks') maintenance regime, nature trails are inspected at least once a week. NParks also carries out additional inspections after prolonged periods of heavy rainfall or reports of trail-related issues. Following the inspections, NParks may temporarily close trails to ensure public safety and facilitate maintenance works, as necessary. The duration of trail closure will vary depending on the extensiveness and complexity of works needed.
