Extension of Tuition Fee Loans and CPF Education Loan Scheme to Working Adults who Take Up Part-time Degrees

64 Mr Victor Lye asked the Minister for Education whether tuition fee loans and the CPF Education Loan Scheme can be extended to working adults who take up part-time bachelor degrees or higher studies at recognized institutions to encourage mid-career skills development.    

Mr Desmond Lee: Working adults or any other students who are Singapore Citizens taking ​Ministry of Education-subsidised part-time undergraduate or postgraduate by research degrees in our autonomous universities can tap on Government tuition fee loans to finance their studies. They can also tap on their post-secondary education account or SkillsFuture credit. Government bursaries are also available to part-time undergraduates from lower- and middle-income families.

The Central Provident Fund (CPF) Education Loan Scheme is scoped tightly to local full-time tertiary education courses conducted locally at approved education institutions, to safeguard CPF savings for Singaporeans' retirement, healthcare and housing needs.
