62 Ms Poh Li San asked the Acting Minister for Transport what measures is the Ministry taking to educate and discourage teenagers from cycling in groups without wearing helmets on main roads, if any.
Mr Jeffrey Siow: Cyclists are required to wear helmets and comply with group size and riding formation requirements when cycling on roads. The Land Transport Authority and Traffic Police (TP) regularly conduct school talks to emphasise safe cycling practices. Under the Active Mobility Community Ambassadors scheme, volunteers engage their communities to promote safe and gracious sharing of paths. Joint enforcement operations are also conducted with TP to deter offenders.
