Transcript
27 Ms Yeo Wan Ling asked the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) what is the number of home-based food companies registered yearly since the COVID-19 pandemic; and (b) what are the public health, fire and food safety measures put in place to ensure that home-based food businesses including those offering walk-in purchases and dine-in services are upheld.
Ms Grace Fu Hai Yien: The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) does not track the number of home-based food businesses as they are not required to be licensed.
Home-based food businesses are subject to existing food safety regulations to ensure that food sold is safe for consumption. SFA will take enforcement action against home-based food businesses if they are found to be engaged in the sale of unsafe food. As the activities undertaken by home-based food businesses are small-scale, the Singapore Civil Defence Force does not impose additional fire safety requirements beyond what is required in a residential setting.
