21 Mr Low Wu Yang Andre asked the Minister for Digital Development and Information (a) whether the Government has data on the amount of feedback received by the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore or public agencies in the last five years regarding misleading content on social media; and (b) how many of these cases involved paid influencers or sponsored posts without clear disclosure.
Mrs Josephine Teo: From 2021 to 2025, the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore (ASAS) received between 40 and 48 cases of feedback each year regarding social media advertisements with misleading content. Around 2% involved paid influencers or sponsored posts without disclosure. They had breached the Singapore Code of Advertising Practice and would typically have been asked by ASAS to amend or remove their content.
