Breakdown of Real Estate Agents or Sales Persons from 2010 to 2020 by Employment Type, Educational Qualification, Age, Gender and Nationality

43 Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan asked the Minister for National Development for each of the years from 2010 to 2020 (a) how many people in the labour force are working as real estate agents or salespersons; and (b) what is the breakdown for such persons in terms of full-time employment, part-time employment, educational qualification, age, gender and nationality.

Mr Desmond Lee: The Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) was set up in October 2010 to regulate the real estate agency industry. The annual number of real estate salespersons (RESs) since CEA's formation is as follows:

Based on available records, the breakdown of the RES population in terms of age, gender, nationality and education for the past five years is as follows:

Based on a survey conducted by CEA in end 2020, 59% of RESs indicated that they are working full-time as a RES, while the other 41% indicated that they are working part-time.
