Breakdown of Persons Working as Nurses in Allied, Ancillary and Administrative Roles in Private Healthcare Sector from 2010 to 2020

57 Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan asked the Minister for Health for each of the years from 2010 to 2020 (a) how many persons are working as nurses, and in allied, ancillary and administrative roles respectively in the private healthcare sector; and (b) what is the breakdown for such persons in terms of whether they are in full-time or part-time employment, educational qualifications, age, gender and number who are Singaporeans and non-Singaporeans.

Mr Ong Ye Kung: MOH does not collect data on the number and breakdown of persons employed in the private healthcare sector. The number and breakdown of nurses and registrable Allied Health Professionals (AHP) collected by the Singapore Nursing Board and Allied Health Professions Council respectively are in Tables 1 and 2¹.

From 2014 to 2020, the overall number of nurses in the private healthcare sector increased by 27%, from around 9,000 to 11,420². From 2018 to 2020, the overall number of AHPs in the private healthcare sector³ increased by 13%, from around 1,200 to 1,350.
