11 Ms Raeesah Khan asked the Minister for Manpower over the past five years, what is the breakdown of CPF members without a nomination at the time of their death by (i) age (ii) education level and (iii) household per capita income.
Mrs Josephine Teo: Over the past five years, about one in four CPF members pass away without a nomination. CPF members who passed away at an older age are more likely to have nominated their CPF monies. The proportion of members without a nomination at the time of death is 53% for those aged below 55, and 21% for those aged 55 and above. CPF Board does not record the member's education level or the income level of the member's household at the time of death.
Members can make a nomination via the CPF Board's online nomination service or visit the CPF Service Centres, where the Customer Service Executives can help in the nomination process. CPF Board has undertaken various efforts to encourage members to make their nomination, which resulted in a 60% increase in the number of nominations made over the past five years.
We encourage all members to make their CPF nominations early and update them as their life circumstances change, including marriage that revokes any prior CPF nominations. Newly married members will have to make a fresh nomination to ensure that their CPF monies continue to be disbursed according to their wishes when they pass away.
