Breakdown of Bus Captain Profiles Across Public Transport Sector by Demographic and Educational Qualifications

76 Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan asked the Acting Minister for Transport what is the current profile of bus captains across the public transport sector by (i) age, (ii) nationality, and (iii) highest educational qualification attained.

Mr Jeffrey Siow: Of the 9,900 bus captains today, 30% are aged 40 and below; 57% are between 41 and 60; and 13% are aged above 60. Forty percent are Singaporean or Permanent Residents; with the rest being Work Permit holders. Eighty-five percent hold secondary or lower qualifications.
