22 Ms Mariam Jaafar asked the Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health (a) how many Singaporeans have less than the Basic Healthcare Sum at age 65; and (b) whether there are any plans to review the Basic Healthcare Sum.
Mr Ong Ye Kung: The Basic Healthcare Sum (BHS) is the maximum amount that a Central Provident Fund (CPF) member can accumulate in their MediSave Account. In 2024, 55% of active Singaporean CPF members aged 65 were able to accumulate MediSave monies up to their BHS.
The BHS is reviewed annually to ensure it remains adequate for members' basic healthcare needs from age 65.
