Authorities Responsible for Enforcing Active Mobility Act in Use of Public Paths

102 Mr Ng Shi Xuan asked the Acting Minister for Transport (a) whether the Land Transport Authority (LTA) is the sole authority responsible for enforcing the Active Mobility Act 2017 in relation to public paths, including public paths not constructed, owned or maintained by LTA; and (b) if not, what are the other agencies responsible for enforcement.

Mr Jeffrey Siow: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is the primary agency responsible for enforcing Active Mobility Act (AMA) offences on public paths, which comprise footpaths, shared paths and pedestrian-only paths. National Parks Board (NParks) officers are authorised by LTA to enforce AMA offences within NParks-managed parks and park connectors. Within Housing and Development Board estates, LTA may enforce AMA offences on public paths and Town Councils may also apply their by-laws relating to common property or public safety where active mobility devices are involved.
