Annual Completion Number and Annual Net Increase in Number of HDB Public Rental Flats

63 Mr Chua Kheng Wee Louis asked the Minister for National Development what is the annual completion number and annual net increase in the number of HDB public rental flats respectively for (i) 2011 to 2020, and (ii) the next five years on a projected basis.

Mr Desmond Lee: Between 2011 and 2020, HDB added an average of 1,780 new units to our stock of rental flats every year. After accounting for the clearance of old rental flats, the average net increase in rental units was 1,640 annually.

HDB will continue to build rental flats in the next few years, to gradually renew our stock of rental flats. There are currently about 1,600 rental flats under construction, which will be completed progressively by around 2025.
