Adequacy of Grant to Help Smaller Importers in Beverage Container Return Scheme

26 Mr Abdul Muhaimin Abdul Malik asked the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) whether the Ministry consulted smaller beverage producers on compliance costs before implementing the Beverage Container Return Scheme; (b) what was the basis of the $2,500 grant amount given that small importers face annual sticker costs exceeding $24,000; and (c) whether the Ministry will review the adequacy of the grant to prevent significant price increases and reduce the compliance burden on small businesses.
